Sorsogon's landmass covers a total area of 2,119.01 square kilometres (818.15 sq mi). It occupies the South-Eastern tip of the Bicol Peninsula in Luzon. The province is bordered by Albay on the North, San Bernardino Strait on its South, the Philippine Sea by the East, the Ticao and Burias Passes on its West and Northwest. The Sorsogon Bay is located within the Central Portion of the Province.

Looking to its topography. Almost all the towns lie along the coast, though are connected roads made of asphalt and concrete. Mountains are spread all throughout the Northeast, Southeast and West portions of the province. Its tallest mountain, Mount Bulusan, rises 1,560 metres (5,120 ft) above sea level.

Saved for the land linking the province to Albay located to the North, the province is completely covered by water, serving as a gateway from Luzon to Visayas and Mindanao through ferry terminals located in its municipalities, namely : Pilar, Matnog, and Bulan.
